  • Star Wars icon Carrie Fisher to be honored posthumously on Star Wars Day, May 4th
  • Ceremony to be held near El Capitan Theatre; daughter Billie Lourd to accept the star
  • Fisher joins fellow Star Wars co-stars and Walk of Famers Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford

Gather 'round, Star Wars fans, 'cause we've got some chill news for you! The legendary Carrie Fisher, our beloved Princess Leia, and later General Leia Organa, will finally be honored posthumously with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Force is strong with this one, and the galaxy will commemorate her on Star Wars Day - May the 4th (be with you).

The star will be the 2,754th addition to the Walk of Fame in the Motion Pictures category, settling near the grand El Capitan Theatre at 6840 Hollywood Boulevard. So, get ready to tune in on May 4th, 2:30 p.m. EDT (1830 GMT) for this heartwarming dedication, exclusively streamed at walkoffame.com.

Our favorite Jedi, Mark Hamill, expressed his joy on Twitter with a sweet message: "Long overdue & so well-deserved." Carrie's daughter, Billie Lourd, will accept the star on her mom's behalf, while iHeartMedia's Ellen K will host the event.

According to Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, fans will be "over the moon" to see their favorite princess honored alongside her Star Wars co-stars and fellow Walk of Famers, Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford. Carrie's star will be just a few feet away from Hamill's and across the street from her mom, Debbie Reynolds.

Now, you might be thinking, "Wait, didn't she already have a star?" Well, you're kinda right! The Hollywood Walk Board approved Fisher's inclusion back in June 2021 as part of the 38-person Class of 2022. However, her family had to wait a few years after her passing before being eligible to apply. Carrie's class also includes big names like Francis Ford Coppola, Macaulay Culkin, Willem Dafoe, Salma Hayek, and more!
