Summary

  • Trump accuses Michael Cohen of breaching attorney-client trust in a massive lawsuit
  • Cohen, now a vocal critic of Trump, remains confident the case will fail
  • Legal battles heat up as Trump faces separate charges, with Cohen at the center of the investigation

Let's spill some tea about our ex-prez, Donald Trump, and his former buddy, Michael Cohen. Trump's bringing the drama by suing Cohen for a cool $500 million, accusing him of breaking their lawyer-client bond. Talk about a friendship gone sour!

Cohen's caught up in a New York investigation all about hush money given to an adult film star. Despite Trump's lawsuit, Cohen's lawyer and spokesperson, Lanny Davis, says they're chill and sure the case will flop.

The legal documents filed in sunny Florida claim Cohen's been talking smack about Trump, his fam, and his business. Once upon a time, Cohen was Trump's main man, serving as his attorney for over 10 years and even having a fancy VP title at the Trump Organization. But then, drama hit after the 2016 election, and they had a massive falling out.

In 2018, Cohen got slapped with a three-year prison sentence and a fine after admitting to fraud and campaign finance violations. Now a free man, Cohen's become Trump's public enemy number one, making the rounds on news shows, writing a book, and hosting a podcast - all of which Trump mentioned in the lawsuit.

Davis thinks Trump's using the legal system to mess with Cohen, saying,

"Mr. Cohen will not be deterred and is confident that the suit will fail based on the facts and the law."

Meanwhile, Trump's dealing with his own legal troubles. New York prosecutors charged him with 34 felonies, accusing him of trying to cover up payments to keep adult film star Stormy Daniels hush-hush about their alleged affair. For the first time ever, a former US president faced criminal charges in court on April 4, pleading not guilty.

Cohen, who once made things happen for Trump, admitted he helped pay Daniels $130,000 to zip her lips. As Trump's court date neared, Cohen couldn't help but throw some shade at his former boss, telling CNN,

"He's not thick-skinned. He's actually very thin-skinned, and he has a very fragile ego."

Ouch! Grab some popcorn, y'all - this saga is far from over.
