WhatsApp is reportedly developing a new feature called 'Chat Transfer' that will allow users to transfer data from one Android device to another using a local network.

According to WABetaInfo, the feature will include the transfer of chat history to a new device through scanning a QR code, eliminating the need for users to back up their data on Google Drive.

In addition to this, last week WhatsApp launched a feature that allows the app to utilize proxy servers to access the messaging service in countries where the app is blocked.

This can help users bypass web filters that governments use to impose restrictions and censorship during times of unrest. The proxy support feature has now been rolled out to all users on the latest version of WhatsApp on iOS and Android.

By using a proxy server, users can connect to volunteers and organizations around the world that are dedicated to helping people communicate freely.
