As of June, the Adzuna database showcased a staggering 7.6 million job openings in the United States, with an increasing portion of them emphasizing the need for AI skills. Among these, a remarkable 169,045 positions specifically called for proficiency in AI, while 3,575 roles demanded expertise in generative AI.
Unsurprisingly, typical tech-related positions such as software engineer, product designer, deep learning architect, and data scientist dominate the landscape. However, according to James Neave, the head of data science at Adzuna, there exists a glaring shortage of qualified applicants in one rapidly expanding field: tax management.
To enhance business efficiency through the utilization of large language models, accounting and consulting firms are actively seeking accountants and tax managers equipped with AI capabilities. These firms recognize the value of incorporating AI skills into their workflows, enabling them to streamline processes and achieve optimum productivity.
Adzuna's data reveals that tax manager positions incorporating AI skills offer an average annual salary of $100,445, while the average remuneration for jobs utilizing AI stands at an impressive $146,244.
While AI jobs have existed for decades, their prevalence has surged in recent months with the emergence of ChatGPT in late 2022. Companies keen on remaining at the forefront of cutting-edge technology are now scrambling to secure professionals capable of constructing and implementing AI systems.
